There were two of these hovering and then hanging out on my Cleveland Sage. Mojave Desert, California. I couldn’t see the wings because they were moving too fast. About 1/2 inch long and not as busy as the other bees. Second pic is bad but shows the body shape from the side. I wouldn’t think they were bees/flies/wasps but they could hover in place. Thanks for looking!
