Discussion: The value proposition of current market prices (Prices creeping up?)
TL;DR: Returning after a hiatus since early 2023. At $35 for shirts and $75 for jackets, it feels like the margins only make sense for ultra-luxury brands now. What’s the market like now?
Hey everyone,
Getting back into the scene after a break since early 2023 and looking to put together a new order. I'm noticing a bit of a shift in pricing and wanted to get the community's thoughts.
I'm seeing standard shirts sitting around $35 and light jackets easily hitting $75+.
I completely get that paying $40 plus shipping for a Moncler or Loro Piana piece is an absolute steal relative to retail. But for lower-tier designer or smart-casual items, it feels like the value proposition is getting thin once international shipping is factored in.
Has the overall landscape shifted? Are sellers mostly pricing things to cater strictly to the ultra-luxury market where the rep margins make more sense, or am I just looking at overpriced batches?
Would love a quick status update on where the general market prices sit right now, and if people are mostly sticking to the traditional warehouse platforms or moving toward private direct sellers for high-end pieces.
