The apocalypse and the fall of mankind

I like movies about pre-apocalypse, apocalypse, and post apocalypse. But my favorite kind of movies are watching not only the apocalypse happen but what takes place in the next few months. I hate this “five years later” bullshit. they keep cutting out the good stuff.* The real stuff, the gritty stuff, the (doing things that you could never imagine yourself doing) kind of stuf. After the fallout or the pandemic or the asteroid hits. People will be the worst part of the apocalypse, we’re assholes and rightfully so. I would do anything to protect me and my family. Anything.

In 2010 the history channel made a movie called After Armageddon. It’s a docudrama about an hour and a half long. It follows a family trying to escape the large city and survive the breakdown of society after a deadly global flu. Now, this movie lacks good cinematography, and acting and those types of things, but I think it makes up for it with real world scenarios and interviews with experts in various fields. It’s available to watch on YouTube, but the video quality is absolutely terrible, so if you can get it on the history channel, I would highly recommend it. And remember, it was released pre-Covid.

Are there other movies that y’all may know about where the focus is more with the immediate days following an apocalyptic event?

Mexican restaurant near my house, changed the look of the front of their restaurant into an enclosed patio dining area. They got rid of their curved awning and said I could take it if I wanted it. It looks cool but I’m not sure what to do with it. Initially I wanted to make a trellis out of it, but decided against it. Any ideas?
