How old are you guys?

Sorry 65+ I ran out of option space, lol!

I'm curious the ages of those in the group. I am 23 and starting to try to get my friends into appreciating dolls. I think there are a lot of tenderhearted younger folks that just aren't exposed to antiques.

Even when someone sees a doll and thinks they are creepy, unless they have a general fear of dolls, I am able to sway them by asking them to imagine the little girl who once loved that doll. It makes the doll feel precious all of a sudden.

Anyway, just curious!

First of all, I have a "??" dog, who I have a test for but came to this sub and talked to some breeders in it about traits both physical and for temperment to make my best guess. (Always said, if I did post, that I wasn't sure, yet.)

When speaking to them, multiple told me that BMCs are commonly mixed with pits for boar hunting. (You can look it up if you want, sorry to rain on your pit-hate parade.) So, there ARE going to be dogs that have pit and BMC. A dog looking like a pit doesn't disqualify them as much as it doesn't qualify them.

I get wanting a breed spec sub, but yall are just straight up mean. Good luck with your community where everyone is sarcastic and quick to call other people "stupid."

I liked this community because there were real discussions on BMC traits and what to look for. Lots of training advice and genuinely helpful people. When someone posted a certified BMC, people were quick to upvote and ask questions.

Imposters? Sure, tons. But it is as easy as a chuckle and a swipe to go to one more likely to be one (or certified).

I saw one where the photo was a dog UPSIDE-DOWN you could barely see his traits and he turned out to be a Heinz 57. Comment? "Shocker."

What do you mean, "Shocker."?? You can't even see the freaking dog in the photo!

Did the sub need more educational content, maybe an automod and more tags? Yeah, probably. What it didn't need is you.

Idk what changed, because the sub flipped on a dime.

Me and my mom sell things for people, mainly antiques and collectables. We are working on a woman's life of antique dolls. (not promoting our buisness here, I just really have fallen so in love with these old dolls and want to share the portion I get to work on.)

I really have fallen in love with antique dolls a lot more than I did before. I always find new appreciation in different areas of antiques every time I get to explore someones collections.

Nodders were a new one for me! They are just so stinkin' cute! I love the character dolls, and seeing what characters people loved enough to go through the process of making molds, casting and handpainting them all.

You'll be seeing a lot of posts from me. 😂 I just genuinely adore (almost) everything this woman had and the history behind it. I'm hoping to make enough so I can buy some of the cheaper bits of each area of the collection. 🤞🏻

(Again, not a sales post, but an appreciation of this woman's collection.)

Our doll friend took a lot of the reaaaally rare dolls to work on, and I wish I had had a chance to look at them and learn from them! 🥺 (but I did get some to work on, hehe.)

✨️😄 FUN FACTS AND HISTORY APPRECIATED! 😄✨️

I found this gal along with a ton of Kiddles in a trunk. I grabbed all of them to check the value. (we sell things for people, I sometimes buy those things) I freaking love kiddles and have fallen in love with Emerald.

PROBLEM IS... I picked up the next layer and the bottom of the truck, all the dolls were ruined by mold. Emerald and the Kiddles are mold free, but smell SO. BAD.

I tried washing her, soaking her briefly in vinegar and dawn (I was afraid the vinegar would break down the plastic.) and then baking soda in case I needed to neutralize the vinegar acidity. 😅

I was considering putting her and the Kiddles in with an ozone machine just until the smell is gone but I am worried it'll ruin the rubber. Will once be ok?

Someone mentioned putting them in a bin with charcoal and baking soda for a month to absorb the smell, but they smell colossally.

On the bright side for me, we can't sell them like that, so I can fairly get them cheaper since they need heavy deodorising and her, restoration. 😅
