Home folder slow to load

I'm using koreader version 2026.03 on a Kobo Clara Colour. My home folder seems to take longer to load the more books I have. It used to be lightning fast, but now that I've added ~500 books it takes a good 30 sec to load. If I navigate to any other directory it'll display instantly, so it's specifically my home folder.

What could be the problem here? Is it the sheer amount of books? Does it matter which directory I'm using as the home folder?

Could it be something to do with Calibre? I've added all of my books with it.

I haven't been able to find anything about the home folder specifically being slow.

Magazine print quality

Came across this video saying scifi magazine print quality has declined in recent years. It mentions Asimov's and Analog.

The Downfall of Print Sci-Fi and Fantasy Magazines

I've been considering subscribing to a print magazine, but I would like something that's decent quality, doesn't feel cheap, etc. I definitely wouldn't want fuzzy text.

Can anyone recommend a magazine with higher quality printing?
