Studio Sub Placement/Calibration Tips

Hi all,

I recently just found out the ideal placement for a subwoofer is between the mains. Is anybody using a stand they recommend to achieve this? Currently using the older generation Focal Twin6 BE’s and an older generation Sub 12. I currently have the sub on the floor on some ISO pucks from Isoacoustics, and I did notice a difference using them.

RE: sub tuning, I’ve been running a kick drum track I’ve mixed down already and messing with the 180* phase inverter as well as the more fine tuner that goes from 0-180 degrees. I can’t seem to see if I can tell much of a difference. Maybe my ears are deceiving me? I figured it would be as easy as telling if microphones are out of phase with one another. Eagerly awaiting my custom IEM’s from 64 audio. I play professionally 4 times a week, and do sound/studio work in between it, sometimes in lieu of playing gigs. From what I’ve heard about these, I should expect to be absolutely pleased. Thank you all for your collective experience and knowledge and sharing it for me to have made my decision.

I am at week 2 of the 6 week quoted lead times post impression acceptance- any idea if I should be pleasantly surprised by an earlier delivery?
