Bees on Hive Day after Swarm
Hello! Just got through my first winter and into my first swarm season in SW Virginia. My hive was getting crowded and created some swarm cells, so I split the hive with the old queen and plenty of bees about a week ago. Yesterday, the original hive started swarming - it was amazing to watch as the bee tornado started. They all settled within 10 minutes and were just sitting on the hive.
I geared up and found the (old) queen that I had split into the new box on the ground under a pile of bees. I put her and all the bees on the front in a box and moved them to the other side of the yard (last time I put the box next to it so maybe that was my mistake).
Today, that same hive has a bunch of bees on it again. Did they miss the boat yesterday? After swarm? The first picture is today, the second is my hive yesterday after they landed.
Looking for some wisdom and suggestions on next steps. Thanks!
