Update: Employer approved self-managed novated lease – ditching fully maintained option

Update: Employer approved self-managed novated lease – ditching fully maintained option

Quick update on my previous post.

I’ve now received confirmation from my employer that they do allow self-managed novated leases and associated leases, not just fully maintained packages through Maxxia.

That basically changes everything — I’m no longer locked into the high-rate, bundled fully maintained option. I can now structure the lease myself, shop around for better finance rates, and manage things like insurance and maintenance separately.

Next step is comparing lenders / lease providers to find the best rate and structure.

If anyone here has gone the self-managed route:

Any lender recommendations?

Things to watch out for (fees, GST handling, residuals, etc.)?

Appreciate all the help from my last post — definitely helped me push for this 👍

First time Novated Lease quote (Maxxia), Is this a good deal or am I being "Maxxia-ed"?

Hey everyone,

I’m new to novated leasing and just got my first quote back from Maxxia for a 2026 Tesla Model Y L . I’m currently on $120k + and work for vic public health.

Since this is an EV, I’m looking to take advantage of the FBT exemption. I’ve done some reading here and know that Maxxia is known for high interest rates and "hidden" fees, but I’m struggling to find the true cos

Would love to hear from Vic public health employees who have successfully negotiated with Maxxia recently. Is it worth asking for a "Self-Managed" lease to bring my own finance?
