This is my orchid cactus (Epiphyllum), an epiphytic cactus that naturally grows on trees in tropical forests, not deserts. I actually rescued it from a random convenience store in my area, and now it’s putting out huge blooms about the size of my hand. It has flat, trailing stems and produces really dramatic flowers like these bright pink ones.

They’re often called “Queen of the Night” types because many varieties bloom at night, though hybrids like this can bloom during the day too. Mine bloomed overnight, and I woke up to these otherworldly, beautiful displays. Definitely one of the most rewarding houseplants when it flowers. I’ve been in the best mood ever since they opened 🌺
