My husband and I plan to spend 4 days in Venice after sailing the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Ilma cruise along the Dalmatian Coast.

I’d love your thoughts for accommodations that would best our travel style.

We tend to gravitate toward beautiful, high-comfort hotels, but more as a refuge/base than the main attraction. We’re not particularly into formal flashy scenes, highly curated experiences or sipping champagne in lobbies. Our travel style usually involves wandering aimlessly, accidentally walking 20k steps, sitting in cafés, getting a little lost, and feeling like we briefly lived somewhere rather than just visited it.

We love places with an atmospheric vibe, hushed charm, and neighborhoods that are rewarding to explore on foot. Boutique and luxury hotels are most certainly welcome, but personality matters more to us than overt or performative opulence. Big plus given for exemplary service. I’ve looked at the usuals; Belmond, St.Regis and Gritti so I’m hoping for some expanded suggestions.

Would especially love recommendations for the following:
- favorite neighborhoods to base ourselves
- hotels where luxury feels personal and bespoke rather than overtly grand
- beautiful spots with high walkability for sunrise walks and midnight strolls
- private guides you love

Thanks so much
