My husband has been on dialysis for 2.5 years. He has neuropathy in his hands and feet. We have been dealing with foot ulcers for the past year and he is off the Kidney list until he has no ulcers. My husband is attached to his cell phone and the way he was holding the phone, he developed pressure sores on his middle finger and thumb. I noticed the sores and said he needs to call doctor, he doesn't listen to me, this has gone on for 3 months. Finally the in center tech asked to see his finger, they notified the vascular surgeon and gave him antibiotic iv on the spot after dialysis for 30 minutes.
Went to vascular doctor, she said you might lose your finger, the wound smells, she gave my husband antibiotic prescription. Husband went to vascular doctor today, she checked the blood flow in his left arm with the fistula, said the flow is not good. Doc is planning to relocate the fistula and bring the fistula up more by the shoulder area, near arm pit.
His surgery will be in a few weeks. Im just frustrated that my husband did not listen to me, im not a doctor or a certified rn, I do know when you need to see a doctor and get the proper help before it's to late.
I know we all make our own choices in life, but the person taking care of you, cares and loves you deeply. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I have appreciated this community and pray for every one that they will get a kidney.
