I just got a 2016 f55 hardtop and I love it. It’s a lot of fun to drive but this thing is a death trap when it starts raining. I can’t get over 50-55 mph when there is any amount of water on the road. (Highway commute) I’m not sure if I’m fishtailing/hydroplaning or if the stability control is overreacting but my car feels like it slams on the breaks and steers to the right when it’s raining. I am not a new driver, by far, and this doesn’t feel like hydroplaning but maybe it is? Never had such a short wheelbase before so it may just feel different.

The tires look like new. I looked them up online and they have great wet road ratings. Is there something wrong with my car, is it just the fact that it’s a light car and wide tires? I don’t know if this is common in mini coopers or not.

I’m fine with driving that slowly in wet conditions but I want to make sure it’s a normal and there’s not something else going on. Also, if anyone has any ideas that would improve the situation, I would love to hear them!
