For context I am based in the UK.

Approximately 9 months ago, I (39M) was training in Judo and attempted a throw against a partner. They stepped back and 100+ kg of body weight stood on my right ankle and I felt a snap and excruciating pain. I've been injured over the years but never to the extent that this caused. I got it checked out and I was told soft tissue damage so to rest and only weight bare as much as I can.

Shortly afterwards I noticed that I had joint pain everywhere. Nothing extreme but just constant dull ache and loss of strength in my joints (I'm a teacher and I suddenly couldn't lift a class set of books onto a shelf without my wrists giving in with pain).

I went to the GP and was told they cannot refer me anywhere as the pain isn't localised and without any testing other than basic squeezing of hands and mobility tests they suggested it could be Fibromyalgia. They prescribed me pain relief which was amitriptyline and a low dose that I was to increase over time.

I didn't get on well with the medication (side effects) and came off after a few months and have managed it since with over counter pain relief.

I am now at a loss as to what I do now. I am still in pain albeit low level but consistent, I don't have an actual diagnosis of fibromyalgia as it was just a suggestion and looking on my health records it is stated as generalized pain. This is a life changing experience and I have no idea how to proceed. Any help, any advice, anything at all is welcome. Please help.
