As a "completionist" in my first playthrough, I've run across an absolute minefield of moral conundrum.

I am a Companion, while also being active in the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood. Assassinating that poor fellow in Ivarstead felt the wrongest of wrong.

Also....I am a thane of Riften in the Thieves Guild.

I like to frame it as: Maximum Economic Influence.

I am supporting coin flow in Skyrim, mmk?
