I got the device last week poco x8 pro max 12/256gb white(india)
I was hoping for a good gaming experience and performance.
I tested the device in two environments :
Controlled room temps of 23'c and tec phone cooler attached with initial cpu temps of 27.8C and maintained cpu temps of 30-32 C
Normal Mode: room temps 28c and cpu initial temps of 30-34'C
Ultimate mode was selected always and the battery was charged above above 80 percent.
To my surprise things did not go as expected:
- In controlled environment My unit achieves only 2.7 million antutu initial ( no apps all bloat deleted)
Post installation of apps 2.61 million.
Advertised antutu scores of 3 million were lies, many media outlets show 3 million, but some also show 2.7 million. In a normal environment my unit gets 2.4 million.
Cpu throttling test shows 40-30% stability (normal) and controlled shows barely 60% only 5 minutes of testing, it starts showing red in just 30 seconds in normal mode
In gaming bgmi set to smooth 120 fps mode it stutters and very frequently drops to 60 fps when ever a single or multiple enemy appears
I went digging the reason for this deviation, and i found out:
- My unit has immortalis-g925 mc11 gpu and not immortalis-g925 mc12 which is mentioned in flipkart description, also in gsm arena, difference is Mc11 has 11 gpu cores and mc12 has 12 cores.
Yes it matters as gpu scores on antutu shows this, I have like 9 lakh gpu score with a controlled environment, and 8 lakh in a normal environment, media results were above 11 lakh where it shows 3mn total, So it clearly shows gpu is the one differentiating factor.
So poco here decided to dump the bad binned / poor performance sillicon to indian customers.
I want to raise this as flipkart but flipkart has no return policy for specs mismatch like this, and at the time of open box delivery none could have managed to find out a difference like this.
I attached my antutu, and media outlets antutu(where it shows normal and performance), attached flipkart description where it mentions mc12 version in bottom, i don't have any bout with xiomi infact I'm a pocof1 user, still has the device working in 2026. But why lies?
