I’ve been living in this apartment for 10 years now. I’ve never had any issues like this in the past. We’ve always had neighbors upstairs - it’s normal to hear a couple footsteps here and there especially in the kitchen area where it isn’t carpeted. But it’s never been like this. They just moved in a few months ago. They’re a big family with kids and a dog. For the first time, it freaks me out that one day the ceiling would just fall. I hear their every step all over the apartment. My actual concern here is regarding the structure and why these creaks are so loud. I’ve put this up with management but they’ve presented no actual resolution. They shared a phone number I could call during quiet hours if the noises persist. Apart from that, I will pretty much have to deal with it.
I thought about a friendly approach towards my neighbor and have them hear the videos I took just so they’re aware and they can be mindful. But management suggested not to approach them regarding the matter. Otherwise, the issue could escalate and they won’t have any control of that situation. Fair. I hate that it seems to be a dead-end situation. We just signed a new lease earlier this year too.
I guess for now I just want to hear some advice. The only thing I could think of is to turn the TV on, volume up to mask the noises and pray that the ceiling won’t fall.
