Scuba course options

My wife and I have a trip booked for Halcyon Beach in September and are wanting to try scuba. We have never done scuba before but love snorkling. My first thought was to do the Discover Scuba course to make sure we like it and I believe that it includes one dive trip during your stay. My concern is that if we do really love it, you don't have any certification so any future trips would involve either redoing the Discover Scuba or doing another course.

My other thought is doing the Scuba Diver course so at least we would walk away with a limited certification. Plus, as far as I know, this would allow us to do multiple dives throughout the trip. My concern with this route is that I'm not clear on how much time it would actually take to do the training as I don't want to spend too much of our trip doing pool training.

I've gone through all the options on the website and app but it just isn't clear to me what everything entails so I'm looking for information from anyone who has done either of these at the resorts. Unfortunately, we do not have a dive shop near where we live so doing training, other than online, isn't really an option. I'm just trying to get the most bang for my buck without spending too much time training on vacation.
