Iwtl how to think logically under pressure

I work night shift at a hotel and I recently had a situation where I was taking partial payment for a hotel room. I collected the amount of money for the transaction but I messed up recording it on our system so it looked really weird on the electronic recording books. It was to the point where the gm thought I stole money and my manager told me to review the training guide before I clock in tommorow.

Sitting here at home I realize that I could have done things in a much cleaner and efficient manor but I rarely take partial payments and the guest looked super impatient and I couldn't think logically.

Saying this to say I want to learn how to stop myself from tunnel visioning and making stupid mistakes I would not have made with a clear mind.
