How come there are so many Japanese people in Toronto now?
Hopefully this doesn’t come off the wrong way as I’m asking this purely out of curiosity and of course welcome anyone who wants to move to Toronto. I also love Japanese food and culture and have been to Japan multiple times (very generic justification, I know)
But is there is any reason why Toronto has become a popular place to live for Japanese people? I feel like I use see Japanese people very infrequently. For example, all the employees of Japanese Restaurant were Chinese or Korean for example. But now I see Japanese people often on the street and running their own businesses, which is a welcome change.
I was wondering if there was a cultural shift perhaps where emigration is more popular now or Toronto’s PR in Japan has just gotten better. From my own brief research, apparently we may have just reached an inflection point where the Japanese population is more visible now.
thanks for entertaining my random thoughts and curiosities!
