Today marks a few milestones for me (M23)

It was exactly 6 months ago today (Nov. 5) that I was listed. I guess the powers that be thought the best way to celebrate would be my first dry run! I was just getting home from an appointment with my local cardiologist when my phone rang. Seeing a zip code I don’t normally see, I always answer, knowing it might be THE call. Today, it was. Isn't it so weird that it’s just like any other call? Very surreal for me. They asked a couple questions and let me know to stand by while their team inspected things to see if they were a perfect match.

Got go bags ready and waited about 30 to 40 minutes, then got a second call. This time, they let me know these didn’t end up being THE lungs. Would have loved, loved, loved to get my new lungs today, but I know there are better lungs out there for me. So even with my fake dry run, I am happy to know I am getting looks out there.

In the meantime, I am always fielding any advice any lung transplant survivors have. Feel free to comment or shoot me a DM. A little about me: 23M, Bronchiolitis Obliterans, FEV1 15 percent, using 4 liters of oxygen at rest and 8 to 10 with activity.

TLDR: Exactly 6 months after being listed, I got my first dry run. They weren't THE lungs, but I’m happy to know I’m getting looks.
