Title explains it all actually.

Got a nifty USB-stick at a fishing boat exhibition (industrial, large scale), and was tipped not to use it since it could be spyware on it.

I am familiar with booting up a Linux distro from USB, but not something i do often or is well versed in actually using, so i am still unsure if the new stick could infect my computer trough the linux distro by accessing my HDD trough it.

Is there any way i can securely wipe the stick without risk of infection, or am i overreacting?
