I have an unusual situation: I don't have a PhD, but I worked in a field (media and comms) for years. I'm also very googlable in that context, but, again, no research. I've written two lectures that I delivered at most Ivy League universities, and the students absolutely loved them--packed auditoriums, etc.
I'm looking for something more stable (honorariums aren't enough, even though I do love traveling for lectures). Is there any way I can translate these lectures, my expertise, into a gig that is not just a one-off guest lecture? I can make a course out of each of these lectures (they barely scratch the surface of the subject), but I would have no idea what to do with that course. And when I start writing an academic CV - well, there is no research that I published. No peer-reviewed articles (but dozens of articles in mainstream media). No books, nothing "academic" that signals any sort of authority to teach in a university setting. Or am I looking at this the wrong way?
Also, it's May now, does it even make sense for Fall 2026, or even Spring 2027?
I'd truly appreciate some guidance here. Thank you!
