For 5 years, letting my Goldendoodle outside meant either watching him the whole time or clipping him to a tie-out. We have a big yard with a pond, so I needed something that would let him roam, swim, and still stay within range. Recall helped a little, but if he was interested in something, he’d just ignore me and keep going.

A couple weeks ago we set up a virtual fence with one of these Satellai collar, mostly because it’s waterproof and he’s in the pond all the time. What surprised me wasn’t just that it stopped the wandering. It’s that he now actually chooses to stay close, even when nothing is being triggered. That’s the part that feels different to me. He seems to understand the space now instead of just being physically prevented from leaving it.Big bonus is that we can also set up a separate boundary at our vacation house, which has made things a lot easier there too.

Curious if anyone else has had this kind of shift with virtual fencing. Did your dog actually learn the boundary?
