Guilty or innocent - never be alone with a student in a class

A former teacher's aide in Pasadena ISD is facing serious charges after being accused of inappropriate conduct involving a 13-year-old student with special needs, according to court records.

Authorities say Vanessa Aguilar, who worked at Queens Intermediate, was arrested and is currently being held on a $500,000 bond. Investigators allege that she took the student into a separate classroom on multiple occasions and engaged in misconduct.

The student's mother, who spoke anonymously to protect her child's identity, said she is still trying to process what happened.

"I'm angry and in shock," she said, adding that her son told her something was wrong and said he no longer felt comfortable at school.

According to court documents, the incidents allegedly took place in a room used for breaks. The mother also said a letter believed to be written by Aguilar was turned over to investigators as part of the case.

Family members of the accused have publicly denied the allegations. A man identified as her fiancé said he does not believe any of the claims and maintains that she is innocent.

Following the report, Pasadena ISD notified law enforcement and confirmed that Aguilar is no longer employed by the district.

The student has since been transferred to another school, while his family considers further steps moving forward. Aguilar has appeared in court and is expected back for a future hearing in May.
