How to set up PC fans to cool Bambu printer in an enclosed closet?
Hey everyone,
I just got my hands on the new Bambu Lab X2D and I'm planning to house it inside a closed wooden cabinet to keep my workspace looking neat.
However, I want to make sure I don't accidentally create a hotbox. I know the printer needs cool ambient air to keep the mainboard/electronics happy and to prevent heat creep.
I want to use PC fans to ventilate the cabinet and keep the ambient temperatures safe, but I'm not entirely sure what the best approach is for a setup like this.
Before I start drilling holes in my furniture, I’d love to get some input from people who have done something similar with their printers:
- Placement and Airflow: Where is the best place to put the fans (back, sides, top, bottom)? And should I have them blowing cold air in, sucking hot air out, or a combination of both?
- Hardware recommendations: Any recommendations for quiet, high-airflow fans?
- Alternative solutions: Are there any other options or better approaches to housing this printer that I haven't considered yet?
Any tips, warnings, or pictures of your own cabinet setups would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!
