I’ve been wondering whether maintaining good posture while sitting on a backless chair can actually strengthen the core over time. For example, sitting with the pelvis upright, spine neutral, chest slightly open, and avoiding leaning on a backrest. It feels like the abdominal and lower back muscles have to stay active continuously to keep the posture stable. Would this count as a form of low-intensity core training or mainly just posture practice? Can regularly sitting this way improve stability, balance, or reduce back pain, or is the effect too small compared to exercises like planks and squats? I’m curious about both scientific explanations and personal experiences.
