Why do the tax changes result in fewer houses being built?
From ABC news regarding the budget: Treasury expects the tax changes will result in 35,000 fewer dwellings being built over a decade, which would be offset by an estimated 65,000 new builds under a $2 billion local infrastructure fund.
There are tens of thousands of people looking to buy their own first home, so why would these tax changes affect that in a way that the govt are forced to start a new fund to create 65k more houses?
