Hey I am new to this Community but I i’ve looked around and it seems like a great place.

Anyhow, sinse quite some time i’ve thought about having a stab at making my own tcg. I’ve always found Game design interesting: When I was a child i used to design my own (in hindsight pretty mediocre) board games, I am a GM for regular ttrpg sessions and love creating my own content and enjoy watching game designers talk about the topic. Also I am a big board game enthusiast and really enjoy playing games with very different approaches to design.

My particular interest in making a TCG was bone the first second I watched the “making a TCG from scratch” series of zach from chaos galaxy. I even have some ideas for the flavor and story of the game i’d like to make and a few mechanical aspects in mind already.

But there is one big issue: I’ve never actually spend a lot of time playing TCGs. I did not grow up with pokémon or the like. I’ve played some MTG, a more considerable amount of Altered TCG and have experience with Hearthstone for even longer (But HS obviously is a CCG not a TCG). Despite all of this id really not consider myself knowledgeable in the area though. I already thought maybe a board game would be a better project, but honestly i find the format of a TCG very appealing from a design perspective.

Also I can’t really draw, but maybe it would be a good motivation to start learning it.

I’d be really happy to hear some feedback from you as a community of people tag are probably more in the TCG space than I am: Do you think my lack of experience with TCGs is a definite no when it comes to whenever I should start this journey?
