Recently, my vehicle was damaged after an object on the road hit the bottom of the car, and I applied for a Dubai Police report under “unknown accident” immediately.
I received an English SMS saying the police report would be ready within 3 days. At the same time, I also received an Arabic message. I thought it was the same translation, but later I found out the Arabic message was different and said my request had been cancelled.
The next day, I contacted the police to ask what I should do. They told me to visit Al Barsha Police Station on weekdays between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. I asked if there was any other option, but they said so, “Brother, listen… go to the police station.”
So I waited until the next working day and went to the police station. However, when I reached there, they told me they could not issue the report and asked me to go outside and call the police again.
I called the call center again, and they told me to return to the accident location and call the same number so that the police could come and issue the report. I went back to the accident location and called again. Then a police officer contacted me and asked for the accident details, my Mulkiya, and driving licence details. After that, he asked where the vehicle was. I told him it was not at the accident location anymore, and he asked me to bring it back.
Is the process supposed to be this difficult? Because of this delay, I still cannot proceed with my insurance claim. 🥲
