Old children's chapter book about a boy who raises ducklings and uses the ducks to buy a horse
The boy had been wanting the horse throughout the story, and at the end he purchased the horse for the ducks. He told his class at school about buying his new horse, and the teacher says 'That's nice, but we say dollars, not bucks.'
I would have read this in the late 90's, probably, and it felt like an old novel. I had Justin Morgan Had A Horse as well, and they felt like similar vintages. I assume from the dollars/bucks thing that it was set in the USA.
