
Advanced French questions
I am a particularly violent player. One of those guys who hit all the walls where everyone becomes good at defending, and then smashed through it enough times that I can routinely churn out miniatures against Class A players.
I’ve been polishing up a lot of my old tournament prep, and as I’m starting to match or exceed it in my gameplay, I’m coming upon the limits of some of my record keeping for the sidelines.
I run this transposition heavy repertoire to keep opponents on the back foot. One of the core ideas- using c3 against Sicilian players to transpose into advanced French lines where I have some lines curated around the concepts in the 9. Nbd2 gambit.
It’s usually a really good bet.
As long as I’m getting 7/8~ replies, I’m winning disgustingly easy and stylishly… but I have absolutely no line I really like where black rushes Ng5.
The pawn push feels stilted and gets in the way of the tactics I’ve got prep on, the bishop capture isn’t particularly far behind, and while I’m having my best results just going Ndb3 and playing positionally… it kinda feels like I’m playing on someone else’s board and not really to my own strengths.
Does anyone have some inspiration for me to check out?
