When playing a show or movie is there anyway to have the time bar countdown to zero instead of counting up?

I've had three movies in a row where I've had to go in and use the Subtle Delay (this video only) slider. Is anyone else having this issue? I've been using the app for about 2 months now and I've never had any issues with subtitles until now.
Also, what does subtitle offset do? what do options 0 through 5 do?
I've selected different SRT files from open subtitles in the app, but all of them are off sync.
I also tried to choose a different video link, but I keep getting an error message that says "no download link" could not resolve a playable download URL for this link. Any ideas?
I'm on a fire stick 4K Plus.
