Hi Miata gang,
I recently replaced my front left hub (wheel bearings), immediately road tripped the car, and then after about 500 km (Canadian car) I noticed a medium volume rattle on rough, broken roads. The rattle goes away when I am pressing the brake even gently.
The new wheel bearing has zero slop, so I took off the tire, retorqued my spindle nut, brake caliper bolts, and brake piston bolts. The brake pad springs and all 4 slider clips are where they are supposed to be. I grabbed and shook everything and nothing clunks or rattles.
Only rattle at low speed on broken pavement, no noise at high speed or medium/large suspension impacts. Again, the noise goes away immediately when I press the brakes. It's a 99 NB8 with base brakes, no ABS.
What do you guys think could be wrong?
Best,
A confused new(ish) Miata owner
