South to Airport at 4:30 - 5am?
My wife has a 7:30am flight tomorrow.
We're up in Sandy Springs, and she wants to leave around 4 - 4:30 in the morning in hopes of arriving at the airport at least 2 hours early because she's not sure what to expect from getting through TSA other then it might take her awhile; what with the TSA strikes and such going on.... she's reading different sources saying the current wait at ATL Hartsfield TSA at 5 - 6 in the morning could be 60 - 90 minutes...
So I'm thinking our best bet to get there as early as possible, is to drive down to the College Park Marta Station and use their free parking down there, and catch the first AM Southbound train into the Airport... I can walk her to the TSA checkpoint and see her off, then take the Train right back up to College Park and grab the car and go home.
Marta's website says their trains start running as early as 5am, but how does this work?
Do they station a train at every station, so if someone arrives at any station by say 4:50am, there's a train already there waiting to depart at 5am? Or what time should we expect the first southbound to arrive at College Park to take us to the Airport?
Normally, we would board at North Springs, which is closest to us... but if we're leaving at 4 - 4:30 in the morning, and it takes us 5 minutes to get to the North Springs station... waiting for a train to arrive and depart at 5am; or whatever time the first train is there... and then still have a 40 min train ride... we wont arrive at the airport until after 5:30.. maybe almost 6am... and then shes stuck at TSA for 60 - 90 minutes then rushing to catch her plane; which will have already boarded its passengers 30 mins before its departure time...
Personally, I would rather we get there with enough time for her to arrive at her gate by at least 6:30am... so I'm thinking, College Park at 5am... with a 5 minute train ride into the airport.
I just need to know when to expect the first morning southbound train to be at College Park.
