Trying to calculate what my pension is worth in today's dollars for a networth statement and ChatGPT is telling me $700k as a conservative amount, with $1 million being an aggressive amount.
I'm 40 years old, make around $95k a year and have conpleted 16.5 years of service. Assuming my salary grows 2.25% per year until 56, I'll be making $135k at retirement, which my pension will pay me 2% per years of service of my highest annual salary (66%). So my pension will pay me around $85k a year.
Does $700k sound like an appropriate number to include in my networth statement?
Seems very high to me.
