I'm looking at getting a 2023 Touring. I'm aware that the 2024 has battery improvements but the ones I'm seeing are ~$8k more than the 2023. That said, I've looked around this sub and I'm wondering if these '23s are overpriced.

Option A: 24k miles, $22,397

Option B: 31k miles, $22,598

I've seen several people here getting them for $19-20k, and insinuating that more than that would be too expensive.

What do you guys think? Any tips for getting the price down at the dealer if I go and fall in love with the car? I have yet to test drive one but from everything I've seen I'm fairly sure I'm going to like it. I want the touring mostly because of the moonroof and ventilated seats. just feels like if I'm going to spend this much money on a vehicle I might as well get all the cool shit.

For reference:

My current car is a 2008 forester which needs a new engine. I will be keeping the '08 for towing and longer trips, though I'm not opposed to taking the Solterra to visit my parents (550 miles one way) in the summer, when the range should be better.

I'm hoping it will have enough space for short trips with my 3 large huskies.

I'm also hoping it won't depreciate too much more.. I'm extremely frugal and paying $20k for a car makes me nervous. My '08 was $4,900 in 2019 and has served me well.

I want an EV now because I moved to an extremely rural area and drive 60-100mi round trip for groceries, doctors appointments, and basically any other 'must be done in civilization' kind of thing. I spent $500 on gasoline in March. An EV should save me a lot of money.

I want a Subaru because I live on a mountain and their AWD is *chef's kiss*, however the mountain can come with some pretty harsh winters (with this last one being a notable exception)

Leasing a car seems insane to me, as I would feel foolish paying hundreds of dollars a month for something I don't own.
