Hey guys, I built something free for our community to improve our solo workouts!

I started boxing about 6 months ago and honestly I'm loving it. Apart from regular gym training I find myself hitting the heavy bag at home on off days, doing some jump rope, or
meeting up with friends for light sparring. For all of that you really just need one thing — a decent timer.

Sounds simple, right. I tried basically every boxing timer app on the App Store and I was kind of shocked by how rough the experience was. A lot of them forced me to watch an ad
between rounds — and I don't know if you've tried closing a popup with boxing gloves on, but it's not fun. Others would just stop running the second my phone locked, so I'd look
up thinking the round was almost over and it hadn't moved. Some only let you set two or three presets before asking for money.

I've been teaching myself to code for about two years now on the side, so at some point I thought screw it, I'll just build the one I actually wish existed.

It's called BoxTime. A few things I specifically wanted in it:

  • Timer keeps running in the background when your phone locks or you switch apps, so you don't have to touch it mid-round
  • No forced ads between rounds
  • Fully custom round length, rest and number of rounds for whatever you're doing that day
  • Log your solo sessions and sparring with notes on what you worked on
  • Training history so you can look back at the past weeks
  • Works the same for kickboxing, Muay Thai or anything round based

Most of the things you'd actually use during training are free, I only kept a small part of it behind an optional upgrade to help cover costs — so you can genuinely train with it, it's not a 7-day trial or anything like that.

You can try it completely free without signing up

Obviously not a replacement for a coach or proper gym work, just something to make solo training and open-gym days a bit less annoying.

If anyone feels like trying it and telling me honestly what they think — what's missing, what's clunky, what annoyed you — I'd really appreciate it. Rather hear it now than keep
building in the wrong direction. Link: [LINK]

Cheers.
