Let's talk about Chapter 233
Hello there, friends!
Hope you're all doing great!
And with a new week, we got a new chapter!
So it's that time again for me to summarize the chapter, analyze it a bit, think too much on it, and leave the comments for you all to discuss.
So, without further ado, let's get on with the summary!
- The chapter starts back with Momo and Jiji, while the latter is trapped in the mouth of a Brachiosaurus.
- Momo looks at what's happening, questioning if it's part of the exhibit, only to turn around and notice everybody has disappeared, recalling how the same happened in the Dris/Serpo fight.
- She then notices how every dinosaur skeleton starts regaining muscle and skin, turning back into regular dinosaurs.
- She then makes a run for it while every dinosaur goes back to being alive.
- We then cut back to Okarun and Aira in front of a seal-man.
- Aira comments on how unfortunate for that to have interrupted such a moment, when suddenly the leader of the Dragon Knights presents himself and his people, announcing that they're Vlad's guards and that they're here for their power.
- Aira asks if they're the ones that have been targeting them, to which the leader says that the other knights are just ruffians and that if they submit and accept defeat, they'll spare them.
- Aira says that she won't give up easily, and that's when the leader clarifies that they're not after her powers, but for Okarun's. More specifically, they're after Turbo Granny's powers, thinking Okarun still has them.
- Aira and Okarun try to explain that he doesn't have TG's powers, but the leader says that he still has them because they know he's a liar.
- The leader then says that he doesn't like to fight, but he will if he must, which makes Aira prepare herself for battle, even when Okarun still exclaims that he doesn't have powers.
- Suddenly, Aira and Okarun's feet slip, forcing them to fall forward. Okarun notices with his hand that the floor has suddenly gotten slippery.
- They then notice that the seal-man is licking the floor, concluding that this must be his power. The seal-man then transforms back into just being a seal and shoots himself like a torpedo to tumble both of them, ending the Chapter.
Well, that was an interesting chapter. Rather short too.
So, let's talk about some of the things the chapter gave us.
For starters, going back to Momo just confirmed the use of Empty Space for them. We don't know if there are small Empty Spaces used for each group or one giant one for all of them. I lean on the idea that this is one big Empty Space with multiple power users around the park in search of Okarun and the gang. The leader, most likely, went for Okarun himself and left specific minions stationed in different places in order to capture the others.
The Seal-Man was most likely the one who spotted Okarun, and once he showed himself, it made the leader spring into the scene.
It is interesting to me how prideful the leader is. Even in his noble way of introducing himself and his knights, he does boast his allegiance to Vlad as his guards, he calls the other knights that attacked the dandagang "just ruffians", and even in the introduction of the amusement park, when we first saw the knights, he states that he doesn't want CSG to get all the glory. Pride may be his undoing, especially against Aira, who always called herself noble when using her powers.
Now, Momo running is interesting. Maybe her first instinct was to go for Okarun, since she's not aware of Evil Eye in Jiji. Do remember that she wasn't able to perceive the supernatural anymore since her amnesia up until the Dris/Serpo fight. So she probably made a run to the exit to find Okarun to help Jiji because, in her mind, he's the only capable one.
I think she'll run into Peeny-Weenie before. Now, with her memories of him gone, the interaction will be very interesting. We don't know if Vamola or others talked to him about Momo's amnesia (most likely they didn't), so he'll maybe say to Momo who he is, only for her to be like, "Who are you?" And it'll be more interesting once he transforms to fight while Momo keeps Chiquitita safe. She'll see that he's an alien and maybe confuse him for an enemy. After all, the only aliens she remembers tried to kill her and Okarun.
As for the other side of the fight, it'll be an uphill battle for only Aira and Okarun. With the Seal-Man making the floor slippery, and the leader ready to attack with giant scissors, Aira is the most powerful here, with Okarun only able to use the Oni club.
Also, the fact that they're after TG's powers specifically caught my attention. CSG is the only one who knows the truth about Okarun after he, as Sanjome, tried to make him admit defeat. I'd go on a limb and say that this is false intel he fed to his "allies" because he knows the powers returned to TG. I think CSG is trying to get the kids into danger to get TG out of hiding. It's that or that he knows that Okarun has other powers. Powers that may be linked to the Oni club.
I felt early on the Kozuka Knives arc that Okarun's sudden change in physique and newfound amazing physical prowess was a bit of a setup. It could be chalked up to Okarun's body adapting to TG's powers over time, but even he stated that he relied too much on TG's powers during the last fights in Danmara. So for him to now be physically gifted is a bit odd. Maybe it all links back to that.
Now, I do wonder how those scissors will come into play. They will cut something, no doubt about it. The question is what. Will it affect the body, cutting it into pieces without fatally wounding? Or will it be a "It can cut through anything!" type of weapon? I guess time will tell.
As for the Seal-Man's abilities, I think it can be just that. The water flea line can be a sort of chant in order to make the powers be more potent or even to activate, like a prerequisite. It would be a first, but I wouldn't rule it out, since he's repeating it so much.
Since there are many Dragon Knights around, and they look very zombie-like, I wonder if Aira and Okarun will get some backup in the form of Vamola and, maybe, Kinta. After all, we haven't seen them after Vamola entered the barbershop to check on Kinta. We're still in Schrodinger's Kinta. He's both fine with a sick hairdo and chopped up into pieces. So it'll be a while until we see the final result. I'm willing to bet we'll learn at the volume ender in 237.
And as a last topic on my end, I do like that the leader mentioned Vlad out loud to Aira and Okarun. It makes sense, since they will have a name to follow now, especially when Seiko and TG come back and mention what they learned from the Izumo Taisha priests.
We have an interesting set of chapters ahead, friends. One fight will most likely end or be near its conclusion around 237 (the volume ender) or before. So we have to keep an eye on that. My prediction is that the current debacle will, hopefully, find its resolution either in the next volume.
Well, that's about it for me.
See you all in the comments to discuss!
