URC Table: 3 Round to go
Great weekend in the URC, some big performances, some of my thoughts below:
Leinster: ‘if Carlsberg did URC weekends’, about as perfect as it gets, two above losing with no points and a great 5 point win away with players rested. Win in Benetton is really needed next week to keep momentum going.
Connacht: What a win, just class stuff and a real statement victory for Lancaster, almost seems harsh they are still in 9th. Defensively a different side, be great if they can turn it on again next week against the Lions but a big ask
Munster: Nice tonic after the last few weeks, Benetton weren’t great but fairly ruthless and composed performance at times. Will need to back it up over the coming weeks with Ulster and Connacht upcoming
Ulster: Ritchie will be raging at the first half performance especially, the lack of physicality was jarring. Good fight back but will need a big performance next week to stop the slide in the league and injuries aren’t helping matters
Huge 3 game weekends to go, looking at the points as they stand currently you’d think that top 8 cutoff will be around the 53-55 mark (real finger in the air stuff there) so two more wins will be needed for most, head to heads in the interpros could be season defining for the teams involved, already excited for the Dexcom atmosphere when Munster come to town
