I keep seeing completely opposite takes on AI in finance. It’s either “this is going to kill AP jobs” or “this finally lets teams do more interesting work.”

My experience so far feels a bit in between. Some stuff definitely gets automated away, but then there’s suddenly more focus on things like dealing with exceptions properly, actually understanding the numbers, and tightening controls.

Interested how this looks in the real world for people here. Are teams actually cutting roles? Or is the work just changing?

I came across a piece recently that talked about AI as more of a catalyst than a threat and it got me thinking. Dropping it below in case it’s useful but I’m mainly keen to hear what people are seeing first‑hand.
