▲ 4 r/Tekken

So I played tekken 8 up until season two maining viktor and was able to reach tekken king after maybe 4 - 6 months of playing. I had to stop because my friend who was sharing his steam library with me had to move to a different country, which made me lose access due to steams terms and shit. fast forward to 1 month ago, i decide to pick up 7 because ive been itching to play tekken again. I decided to main noctis(spare me the carried comments) and man the difference in mechanics between the two games is night and day. It made me realize that broken or strong characters dont need any +onblock moves to be strong and oppressive and how more timing and spacing focused t7 is with how being able to start your oppression relies on you being able to actually hit your opponent and using your intuition to guess which move would most likely lead to more damage or an outright launch. Its also weird how some moves in t7 had they been in t8, would be a +onblock move. one example on the top of my head would be noctis's ff 1+2. in t7 its already a pretty strong move with how safe it is but in t8 it would undoubtedly be a +onblock move just because of the philosophy the game revolves around. in short, yada yada tekken 7 is real tekken and t8 doodoo game or something
