Cattleya forbesii

I got this species last summer from a seller on Ebay. The plant was super dehydrated with no roots, so I just potted it up and let it sort itself out, hoping for the best. Now, almost a year later, it's fully rooted into the medium and sending out new growths and these cute flowers.

I counted about 20 figs in total for my brown turkey. Hopefully they all last until the ripening stage 🤞

Finally, I got to see what this baby looks like in person! It's one I ordered from Ecuagenera Ecuador last summer, and when it arrived, it basically had no living roots. Since then, it has fully bounced back and adjusted to its new home nicely. I wasn't expecting the petals to have those splashes of purple, but it's a welcome surprise. The purple color on the lip is much deeper and cool-toned in person. The flower has only been open for a day, so I can't detect any fragrance yet. Also, I'm aware that the trianae season is long gone, but late is better than never! This guy has two new growths coming, so hopefully I'll get more flowers later this year.
