I’m trying to figure out the case of 2 siblings who are U.S. citizens born abroad:
Mom is a U.S. citizen. Dad is Canadian.
When the older sibling arrived in the USA at age 8, his original birth certificate was taken by the U.S. State Department to be permanently held. In return, he was issued a U.S. passport.
When the younger sibling arrived in the USA at age 4… I’m not sure if she was issued a passport or if the U.S. State Department has her original birth certificate… but a Certificate of U.S. Citizen Born Abroad was automatically issued to her at that time.
Can someone explain this variance?
