Is this possible with an authorized user with an AMEX Gold card?

I want to start by saying I know that I am ultimately responsible for anything an authorized user charges to their card. I would not be considering this if I didn't trust my wife to make payments on things she buys on 'my' card.

My wife made some major mistakes in terms of her credit before we got together (not paying on things and a couple garnishments). She is working on rebuilding her credit but is unable to get her own card at this time. The only debt she has now is student loans. Everything else is paid off.

I am going to get an AMEX Gold card myself and I'm planning on adding my wife as an AU.

Now my actual questions:

  1. My credit score is 750. Will it affect my approval odds if I try to add my wife as an AU during the sign up process? (640 credit score) Or should I wait a month or two to add her?

  2. From what I read, if I add my wife as an AU she can create her own AMEX account and make payments from a separate bank account toward her charges on my card. Is this correct?

  3. Assuming my wife can make payments towards things she buys, can she, as an AU, make payments towards things I buy? Example: Let's assume she hasn't bought anything this month on her AU card so her balance is $0. We are going on a cruise. I make a payment of $2,000 towards the cruise on my card. If she were to make a payment of $1,000 on her $0 balance, would that go toward my balance?
