How do I delete my PSN account permanently?

I’ve been seeing a lot of mixed information lately about deleting PSN accounts, especially older ones that people no longer use. Some posts say the deletion is permanent and wipes everything tied to it, while others mention support can sometimes help recover stuff if it wasn’t fully processed yet. It’s honestly confusing trying to figure out what actually happens once the account is gone.

The reason I’m asking is because I have an old PSN account that I haven’t seriously used in years, and I want to permanently remove it for privacy reasons and to clean things up. The issue is that I used that account as the “main” account on my console for a long time, and some games/content were shared with another account I currently use every day.

I’m worried that if I fully delete the old account, I might somehow lose access to games, saves, or licenses connected to my current setup. I already removed payment methods and changed passwords, but I’m not sure if that’s enough or if I need to contact Sony directly for a full deletion request.

Has anyone here actually gone through the process recently? Mainly wondering:

  • Does deleting the PSN account instantly remove all purchases/licenses?
  • Will other users on the same console lose access to shared games?
  • Is deactivating the console first recommended?
  • And how painful was dealing with PlayStation Support for this?

Would appreciate any advice before I accidentally lock myself out of stuff I still use.

How to connect a PS5 to a hotel Wi-Fi with a login page?

Been noticing that more hotels are locking their Wi-Fi behind those browser sign-in portals, which is fine for phones and laptops, but it becomes a headache for consoles. A lot of people travel with gaming setups now, especially for long stays or work trips, so I figured someone here has probably solved this already.

I’m currently staying at a hotel for about a week and brought my PS5 with me to kill time at night. The issue is the hotel Wi-Fi requires opening a login page where you enter your room number and last name before it gives internet access. My phone and laptop connect instantly, but the PS5 either fails the connection test or never properly loads the login page.

I tried restarting the console and reconnecting a few times, and at one point the browser sort of appeared, but it got stuck loading forever. I’ve heard people mention using MAC address cloning, mobile hotspots, travel routers, or DNS tricks, but I’m not sure what actually works consistently.

What’s the easiest method you guys use for hotel Wi-Fi with a PS5? Preferably something that doesn’t require buying extra hardware while I’m already here. Also curious if certain hotel networks just block consoles entirely.

Would appreciate any tips because offline gaming is getting old fast lol.

How to fix a PS5 that keeps crashing in Rest Mode?

A lot of people seem to treat Rest Mode issues like they’re random one-off bugs, but after digging through older threads and comments, it looks like this has been happening across different PS5 models and software versions for quite a while now. The weird part is that everything works perfectly fine during gameplay. No overheating warnings, no crashes while playing, and performance is totally normal. The problem only shows up when the console goes into Rest Mode. Sometimes it shuts down completely, and other times it gives the “PS5 wasn’t turned off properly” message on the next boot. I started noticing it a few weeks ago after leaving a game suspended overnight. Now it happens pretty consistently. I’ve already tried:

Rebuilding the database

Clearing system cache

Turning off HDMI Device Link

Disconnecting external USB devices

Making sure system software is updated

Switching from Wi-Fi to wired internet

Disabling automatic rest timers

None of those made a real difference. At this point I’m wondering if this is more likely:

a software/firmware issue,

a corrupted game install,

power supply related,

or maybe even an SSD issue?

I’d rather avoid a full factory reset unless people genuinely think it helped long term. Also curious if anyone had success by completely disabling features like “Keep Connected to Internet” or “Supply Power to USB Ports” during Rest Mode. Would appreciate hearing what actually worked for people instead of generic troubleshooting lists.

Why is my PS5 not reading any discs?

A lot of people say modern consoles are pretty reliable until the disc drive randomly decides to stop cooperating out of nowhere. I kept seeing posts about PS5 disc issues and honestly assumed most of them were isolated hardware problems, but now I’m dealing with something really similar myself.

My PS5 was working perfectly fine a few days ago, and now it suddenly won’t read any discs at all. It doesn’t matter if it’s a PS5 game, PS4 game, or even a Blu-ray movie — the console either makes a weird spinning/clicking sound for a few seconds and then stops, or it just acts like nothing was inserted.

I already tried:

Restarting the console Rebuilding the database in safe mode Cleaning the discs Testing multiple discs that definitely work on another console Making sure the disc orientation is correct (yes, I checked more than once lol)

The strange part is that digital games still work perfectly, so everything else seems normal. No overheating warnings or crashes either.

I’m trying to figure out whether this sounds more like:

a dead disc drive, a software/firmware issue, or maybe something loose internally.

Did anyone here manage to fix this without sending the console in for repair? Also curious if this started happening after a system update for anyone else. Trying to decide whether it’s worth opening it up or if I should just contact Sony support before making things worse.

How do I stop the PS5 from recording a trophy video every time?

Storage fills up way faster than expected when the console keeps saving clips and screenshots automatically for every trophy unlock. I didn’t really notice it at first, but after checking my captures gallery, there were tons of random 15-second videos from games I barely even remember playing.

The problem is that a lot of these clips happen during loading screens, cutscenes, or completely unimportant moments, so they’re not even worth keeping. I get why the feature exists, especially for rare trophies, but having it happen for every achievement feels excessive.

I’ve been trying to clean up storage on my PS5 lately because a couple of larger games are eating up space, and I realized these trophy captures are probably contributing more than I thought. I also don’t want to manually delete clips every few weeks.

Is there a setting to completely disable trophy videos (and maybe screenshots too), or at least limit it to higher rarity trophies only? Curious what other people here do — do you keep the feature on or turn it off immediately?

Seen a bunch of posts lately about DualSense issues after updates or random disconnects, but I haven’t found many clear answers specifically about the touchpad completely stopping working. Everything else on the controller seems fine, which makes it extra confusing. The weird part is the touchpad still clicks, but swipes and touch inputs don’t register at all. In some games I can’t open maps or menus anymore, and even navigating certain UI features has become annoying. I already tried restarting the PS5, reconnecting the controller, and switching USB cables, but no luck so far. This started happening to me a couple days ago out of nowhere. The controller hasn’t been dropped or damaged, and it was working perfectly before. I’m not sure if this is a software bug, a calibration issue, or the touch sensor itself dying. Things I’ve tried:

Resetting the controller with the back button

Updating controller firmware

Forgetting/re-pairing Bluetooth connection

Using it wired instead of wireless

Testing another game

Still getting the same issue. Has anyone here actually fixed this without replacing the controller? Curious if there’s a hidden setting, safe mode fix, or something else I’m missing before I open it up or buy a new one.

A lot of people praise the DualSense features, but I rarely see anyone talk about how quickly the battery seems to disappear during normal gaming sessions. The adaptive triggers and haptics are cool at first, but sometimes it feels like the controller spends more time charging than actually being used.

Lately I’ve been noticing that my PS5 controller barely lasts through a few long sessions before I get the low battery warning. I’m not even playing nonstop every day, and the controller is only around a year old. Most of the time I play story games and a bit of online multiplayer, usually with a headset plugged in, brightness at default settings, and vibration enabled.

What’s confusing me is that some people online claim they get 8–10 hours easily, while mine feels closer to 4–5 hours on a full charge. I’m trying to figure out whether this is just normal DualSense behavior or if my battery is starting to wear out already.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Did changing settings actually help in a noticeable way, or did you end up replacing the battery/controller entirely? Any suggestions would be appreciated because constantly charging this thing is getting pretty annoying.

I’ve seen a lot of mixed advice online about cleaning consoles, especially when it comes to the PS5’s white faceplates. Some people say just wipe them down with anything, while others warn that certain cleaners can discolor or damage the finish over time.

Lately, I’ve noticed mine starting to look a bit dull and slightly dirty—probably just from dust and everyday use. I haven’t done anything extreme with it, but the white plates definitely show grime more easily than I expected.

I’m a bit hesitant to just go in with random cleaning products because I don’t want to mess up the texture or cause yellowing. I was thinking of using a microfiber cloth with a bit of water, but I’m not sure if that’s enough or if there’s a better method.

For those who’ve cleaned theirs before—what worked for you? Any products or techniques you’d recommend (or avoid)?

It’s kind of wild how much of gaming has shifted to digital, but somehow managing downloads still feels clunky at times. You’d think by now there’d be a super smooth way to handle installs remotely without jumping through hoops.

So here’s my situation — I usually get home pretty late from work, and the last thing I want is to wait another hour (or more) for a game to download before I can actually play. I’ve seen people mention that you can trigger downloads remotely, but I’m not totally sure how reliable that is or what setup is required.

I’ve tried poking around the app a bit, but I feel like I might be missing something, or maybe my console settings aren’t right. Ideally, I’d love to just buy or select a game during the day and have it fully downloaded and ready by the time I get home.

For those of you who do this regularly:

What’s your exact setup? Does your PS5 need to be in rest mode, or fully on? Is the mobile app the best way, or is there another method?

Would appreciate any tips or “gotchas” I should know — trying to make my limited gaming time actually count

Seen a bunch of people mention the CE-10005-6 error popping up during installs, especially with disc games or large downloads, but the fixes seem all over the place and not super consistent. Ran into this yesterday trying to install a game and it just keeps stopping midway with that exact error code. Sometimes it gets a bit further, sometimes it fails almost immediately. Already tried the basic stuff like restarting the console, cleaning the disc, and even rebuilding the database from safe mode. Still happening. What’s weird is other games install fine, so I’m not sure if it’s a drive issue, storage problem, or just this specific game being cursed. Internet is stable too, so I doubt it’s that. Has anyone here actually solved this long-term? Did it end up being hardware-related or something simple I’m overlooking? Trying to avoid going full reset mode unless it’s absolutely necessary.

A lot of people say you can just plug your PS4 external hard drive into a PS5 and it’ll work instantly, but I’ve also seen some warnings floating around about data corruption, compatibility quirks, or accidentally formatting the drive the wrong way.

I’ve got a PS4 external HDD with a pretty big library of games on it, and I recently upgraded to a PS5. Ideally, I’d love to just plug it in and keep playing without having to redownload everything (my internet isn’t exactly blazing fast ). But I’m a bit paranoid about doing something wrong and losing all that data.

What confuses me is:

Do I need to safely eject it from the PS4 in a specific way before using it on PS5? Will the PS5 try to reformat it automatically or give me the option? Is there any risk if I switch the drive back and forth between the two consoles? And does it matter which USB port I use on the PS5?

If anyone here has done this successfully, I’d really appreciate some step-by-step advice or things to avoid. Just trying to make sure I don’t mess up a drive full of games

I’ve been noticing that a lot of modern consoles and TVs seem to “talk” to each other more than they used to. Like, turning one device on can trigger another, which sounds convenient in theory—but also kind of confusing when you don’t expect it.

So here’s what’s happening: every time I turn on my TV, my PS5 boots up automatically. I don’t even touch the controller or the console itself—it just powers on like it’s been summoned or something. At first I thought it was a one-off glitch, but now it happens consistently.

I recently rearranged my setup and might have changed some settings without realizing it. I’m using HDMI for everything, and I vaguely remember seeing something about device link or control settings, but I didn’t think much of it at the time.

It’s not the worst problem in the world, but it’s a bit annoying when I just want to watch something and suddenly my PS5 is firing up every time.

Is this a normal feature? Did I accidentally enable something like HDMI-CEC? And if so, is there a way to stop the PS5 from turning on with the TV without completely messing up other functionality?

Curious if anyone else has run into this and what you did to fix (or live with) it.

It feels like something that should be super straightforward in 2026—recording gameplay with party chat included—but somehow it’s still weirdly complicated on PS5. I’ve seen clips online where people clearly have their friends’ voices included, but when I try to do the same, it’s hit or miss.

From what I understand, there are privacy settings and permissions involved, and everyone in the party needs to allow their voice to be shared. But even when my friends say they’ve enabled everything, the clips I save still only have my voice (or sometimes no voice at all).

I’ve been trying to capture some funny moments during late-night sessions with friends, and it’s honestly frustrating when you go back to the clip and half the context is gone because no one else can be heard.

I’ve checked settings like:

“Include your voice in video clips” Party chat sharing permissions Clip recording settings

Still feels inconsistent.

Am I overlooking something obvious here? Is there a step-by-step setup that actually works reliably, or is this just a known limitation with PS5 clips?

Would really appreciate any tips or how you guys have it set up

I’ve seen a few people mention that the adaptive triggers on the PS5 DualSense can wear out over time, especially if you play a lot of games that really use that resistance feature. Some say it’s a spring issue, others say it’s just normal wear and tear—but I’m not sure what actually applies in most cases.

Recently, my controller’s R2 trigger started feeling noticeably loose compared to L2. There’s way less resistance now, and it almost feels like the adaptive feedback just gave up. It still registers input, but the “feel” is completely off, especially in games where it used to push back a bit.

I haven’t dropped the controller or anything, and it’s only about a year old. I do play a decent amount (a lot of shooters and racing games), so maybe that contributed?

Has anyone here dealt with this before?

Is this likely a worn-out spring inside the trigger? Is it something I can realistically fix myself, or is it one of those “buy a new controller” situations? If you have fixed it, was it difficult?

I don’t mind opening it up if it’s a relatively straightforward repair, but I also don’t want to make things worse. Any advice or experiences would be really helpful
