I found a too good to be true deal on facebook marketplace for a cannon g7x mk ii and messaged the seller. I asked about shipping it and they agreed then when payment came up I suggested PayPal since they have good buyer protection. She then said “I do only have chime and zelle payment” then I told her no I can only do something that gives me some protection and then she asked about Venmo. I agreed since it has the this is for a purchase button but after searching their name a lot of obvious scam accounts came up with the same naming scheme. I’m pretty certain this is a scam especially after seeing that but I’m confused how they expect to make their money since Venmo has buyer protection. Does anyone know how this scam works?
