Career advice

I don’t really know how I should feel about where I am in my career. It seems beyond frustrating. I have around 3 years experience. 6 months part time while I was teaching and 2.5 years at my current company. I have 2 exams but I have not been able to pass any at my current role. I am a part of a very small team of 3 and feel like I have responsibilities that I wouldn’t have at another company. My problem is I am often working until 1 am and back at it at 8 the next morning. My boss wants me to try and pass exams but does not put any real pressure as he knows it’s impossible given our workload. I don’t feel like I can progress here, but I am afraid to jump ship to somewhere I am less important with the economy feeling unsteady. My job is currently affecting my family, and this is without dedicating any time to studying. I don’t really know how to bring this up to my boss. Im pretty bad at confrontation and he told me when I was hired that the heavy workload would be prioritized over exams.
