How do I transition into domestic work?
I’ve been working on a commercial office refit for the past 9 months, mainly doing containment (tray, basket, trunking), and I’m starting to feel like I’m not developing the right skills for where I want to go.
I’ve got City & Guilds Level 2 and 3, and my original goal was to get into domestic installation and maintenance (rewires, consumer units, fault finding, testing etc.), but on site it’s mostly repetitive containment work and not much actual wiring or testing.
I feel like I’ve been thrown in the deep end a bit, but at the same time not really learning transferable skills for domestic work.
Just wondering, Is it best to just start applying to smaller domestic firms, How did others make the switch from site work to domestic and. Is it best to just start applying to smaller domestic firms
