Need profile evaluation and guidance for next steps towards EB2 NIW
I’m planning my long-term academic path with the possibility of pursuing an EB-2 NIW later, and I’d love some realistic advice from people in academia or environmental fields. I am looking to start a PhD next year in the US.
My background:
- From Bangladesh
- Bachelor’s in Soil, Water & Environment (top Bangladeshi University)
- Master’s in Environmental Risk Management from a top 100 UK university as a Commonwealth Scholar
- Currently working as a Lecturer and Research Associate in sustainability/climate research in a University in Bangladesh.
- I have 2 first author publication, 1 co-authored publication (total citation 42), 2 first author and 2 co-authored has been submitted.
- Managed one international project.
I’m planning to apply for a PhD soon (USA) and I’m trying to understand what research directions are strongest for future NIW potential.
Also, what should someone start doing early during a PhD if they want to build a strong NIW profile later? Publications, citations, collaborations, technical skills, industry/government work?
Would really appreciate advice from people who’ve navigated this path.
