CA finalist looking for alternate career paths
BCom from a good college. CFA Level 1. Articleship experience 2.5 years in statutory audit from a Top Indian firm.
Wrote CA final in Jan 2026 first attempt and could not clear. Wrote only group 1 in May 2026 and it does not look good. I am not going to quit now. I will write both groups in Nov 2026 with all my effort. I have to write second group anyway.
Still I am trying to know a little bit about some realistic alternate career options. Only for knowledge it will not be necessary I hope.
MBA- Good If I could get a top 20 Bschool.
Foreign accounting jobs/courses like ACCA/CPA - I just don't like it and I will keep this as a last option
Suggest some other options I have.
Joining small or Mid Sized firm is a good idea to work for a while. But I don't have any experience in GST and Income Tax. Mid size firms expect people with knowledge of those.
Also I am trying to fill the 1.5 -2 months gap till result to do anything to improve my profile. Is there anything that I can do that can be useful both as a skill as a CV pointer.
Some options I considered-
Powerbi,SQL - As far as I know it is useful in jobs like FP&A. Also in BA and data analyst roles.
Internship - I am also trying to see if there are any way to intern somewhere for a while. 3 months maximum. But I do not live in a big city so even if there are opportunities for such a short period I will have to relocate. WFH roles will be very limited. It does not make sense to work again in audit.
